There are even some states, such as New York, that maid services are labeled as an essential service. If you aren’t sure what your maid service should be doing at this time, we have action tips you can be doing with your maid service company right now.

Communicate with your clients.

With most businesses closing, let your clients know if you are still available for cleanings. Remind your clients that their health depends on a clean environment, and you’re here to help them maintain a clean and safe standard of living. Communicate helpful updates on the precautionary steps you are taking to monitor the situation.

Keeping your clients up-to-date from REPUTABLE sources is of the utmost importance. We have gathered CDC Recommendations that you can share with your clients:

As a part of the CDC’s recommendations in regard to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), one of the best preventative actions you can take is to clean, sanitize, and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects in your home.

The CDC states that, “Transmission of coronavirus occurs much more commonly through respiratory droplets than through fomites. Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings.”

Screen your employees for illness.

Take extra precautions to ensure that your clients’ homes remain safe and healthy. Be sure your employees are being screened each morning for illness. Communicate to your clients that your maid’s temperatures are taken every morning and they will arrive at their home in gloves and masks and will be using them the entire cleaning. Equip your staff with hand sanitizer to be used before entering the client’s home.

If you have a sick employee or an employee with a temperature, be sure to send your employee home. The goal is to protect your staff, your clients, and their coworkers & family.

Preventing further sickness is a two way street. Inform your clients if there are symptoms of illness for any persons in their home, to please call you so you are able to postpone or reschedule their cleaning.

Make sure your cleaning solution is up for the task.

The Industry Standard for cleaning a residential home is 97% germ-free. For the safety of your clients, you will want to make sure that your quaternary agent is capable of killing the Coronavirus.

Quaternary Ammonium – The industry standard for wipes and sprays is a solution that contains quaternary ammonium, an anti-bacterial compound.

You will need a quaternary agent that:

  • Is the most effective disinfectant, killing 99.999% of germs on surfaces (reducing cross-contamination).
  • Is shown to kill the Coronavirus (COVID-19)* in 60 seconds.
  • Is proved to eliminate Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli and Norovirus in 60 seconds.
  • Leaves no harsh odors or fumes.
  • Is safe to use at businesses, restaurants or homes, since it requires no rinsing after use on food surfaces.

This Coronavirus has shaken the way we live and can be a scary time. The good news is your cleaning business has the potential to bring normalcy back into the lives of your clients simply by cleaning their home, giving them peace of mind their living quarters are corona-free. Communicate, screen your employees, and make sure you are using the best possible cleaning solution. With these steps, your business is ready to take on the Coronavirus pandemic.

Your cleaning company is a part of the everyday heroes that are keeping our nation going. We thank you for your service!
